Gingerbread Mini Donuts
These great donuts are fantastic for a holiday breakfast. It only takes about 15 minutes to prepare, which makes it even better!
Yields: Makes 12 Servings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of flour
- ¾ teaspoon of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of ginger
- Pinch of allspice
- Pinch of cloves
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- ¼ cup of brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup of applesauce
- 1 tablespoon of milk
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
For the Glaze
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- ¼ cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- ½ cup of powdered sugar
Method of Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350º F.
- Mix all of the dry ingredients for the donuts in a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the wet ingredients.
- Pour the batter into a gallon-sized plastic bag. Cut the corner of the bag and pipe the batter into a lightly greased min-donut pan. Fill each space about ½ full.
- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
- Remove each donut from the pan and allow them to cool slightly.
- For the glaze, melt the butter and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Boil for about 2 minutes. Add the maple syrup and 1 teaspoon of milk and bring it back to a boil.
- Add the powdered sugar, and use the last tablespoon of milk to thin the glaze, if necessary.
- Keep over low heat as you dunk each donut in the glaze.
- Glaze will set almost immediately.
