Green Tea Donuts
These distinctive donuts are made with matcha green tea powder. They have a green color, and an extremely unique flavor.
Yields: Makes 12 donuts.
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups of flour
- ¾ cup of sugar
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- ½ teaspoon of matcha green team powder
- 2/3 cup of oil
- ½ cup of buttermilk
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon of vinegar
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
For the Glaze
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of match green tea powder
- ¼ cup boiling water
Method of Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350º F.
- Combine the first five donut ingredients in a bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl (the last five ingredients).
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredient bowl. Mix until combined.
- Fill a donut pan with batter until they are about 2/3 full. Bake the donuts for 12 to 14 minutes. Rotate the pan about half way through the baking time.
- Remove the donuts and allow them to cool.
- Whisk the glaze ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl.
- Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze. All the glaze to set before serving.
